Lavender Brown arrived at Hogwarts at the same time as Harry and is, like him, a Gryffindor. However, in the first movies, Lavender only appears in the background, played by Jennifer Smith. In "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince", she was to take on a bigger role in the movies - so a new actress was sought for the role of Lavender Brown. The choice was finally made for Jessie Cave, who also played the role in "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows".
